
The first suspected measles patient was identified in Buryatia, the biomaterial of the suspected patient was sent to Krasnoyarsk for laboratory confirmation, on March 31, the Buryatia Rospotrebnadzor department reported.
It is reported that the test results will be available within a day. The infected was a resident of the Kyakhtinsky district. The specialists have established a circle of contact persons, all of them under medical supervision. Anti-epidemic measures are being taken in the region.
The outpatient clinic offers measles vaccinations to residents of the nearby town of Tamir.
“The administration of the Kyakhta Central District Hospital urges all residents of the Tamir village to comply with all anti-epidemic measures, limit the circle of contacts, minimize contacts between relatives and loved ones as much as possible. We ask everyone to treat the situation with understanding and patience! Together we can defeat suspicion of infection!”the hospital ad says.
Remember that measles is one of the most contagious diseases in the world. According to medical data, out of every 100 contacts with a sick person, about 96 become infected if they have not been vaccinated or have not been sick before. The virus is spread by airborne droplets.
The disease manifests itself in the form of a temperature of up to 40.5 degrees and a characteristic rash on the body. It is also accompanied by conjunctivitis and inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth and upper respiratory tract.
