The majority of German citizens (81%) do not believe that the government can achieve the climate goals set out in the coalition agreement, reports the ZDF television channel on March 31.
According to the ZDF Politbarometer, only 16% of respondents expect the government to meet its climate commitments. Overall, 62% are in favor of faster expansion of renewable energy sources.
20% of German citizens already use renewable energy sources. At the same time, from the point of view of 14% of those surveyed, the expansion of renewable energy sources is happening too fast.
Remember that in the coalition agreement, the parties SPD, FDP and the Greens set far-reaching goals for climate protection: massively distribute renewable energy sources, quickly move away from coal and significantly increase the number of electric vehicles on the roads.
The benchmark for the government coalition on climate protection issues was the Paris Climate Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees.
