
The new concept of Russia’s foreign policy was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 31 at a meeting of permanent members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
The published document defines Russia’s international policy priority areas, goals and objectives and is intended to become a roadmap for the Russian Foreign Ministry and other departments.
Putin noted that the fundamental changes in the international situation required a serious review and correction of the Country’s Foreign Policy Concept.
“Dramatic changes in international life have required us to seriously adjust key strategic planning documents, including the Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation, which outlines the principles, tasks and priorities of diplomatic activity”Putin said.
Putin described the document as balanced and should form the basis of the country’s practical actions in the medium and long term.
Let us remember that the previous version of the concept was adopted in November 2016. Then, for several years, work was carried out on its update and the new document was submitted for discussion with the permanent members of the Security Council in January 2022.
