Pope Francis is scheduled to be discharged from the hospital on Saturday, April 1, the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation (RTVE) reports on March 31.
The 86-year-old pontiff was admitted to the Gamelli hospital in Rome two days ago after having difficulty breathing.
“His Holiness is expected to return to the Casa de Santa Marta (an extension of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, which currently serves as the Pope’s residence – note. Red Spring AI) tomorrow, after the results of the final tests this morning,” said the director of the Vatican press service, Matteo Bruni.
Bruni said the pontiff had a “good” night, eating pizza with the doctors and nurses treating him at the hospital. On the morning of Friday, March 31, he read some newspapers and went back to work.
