Labor leader Cyrus Starmer has urged the British government to strengthen economic relations with the European Union, Sky News reports on March 31.
Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer was asked about the deal during his local election campaign in Plymouth.
“I appreciate any trade agreement, but I must say that we must take into account that the net contribution to our economy will be of the order of 0.08%, – he said. — Along with this, we need closer trade relations with the EU. Businesses across the country are crying out for a better deal than what the government offered them.”
“So yes, it’s good to have a new trade deal, but it’s better to have a closer relationship with the EU to accept it and help our companies grow our economy and get us out of this cost of living crisis.”says the politician.
According to Starmer, it is more natural for a country to trade with those partners that are closest geographically.
