The unworthy proposals of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with the conditions for the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions will be rejected by the main composition of the Russian national team, Viktor Bondarev, head of the Defense Committee of the Federation Council. , he said on March 31 on his Telegram channel.
“But I believe that the main backbone, the so-called ‘golden squad’ of our team, will reject these unworthy proposals, will refuse to participate in competitions under the conditions proposed by the IOC.”– said Bondarev.
He is confident that for Russian athletes, patriotism, love for the Motherland and national pride will be higher than ambition and the desire to win competitions. Athletes will not be blinded by the glare of medals and will not turn away from truth and justice.
Recall that the IOC recommendation concerns the admission to international competitions only of those athletes from Russia and Belarus who do not support the special operation in Ukraine and who are not associated with the armed forces and security agencies of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, athletes who have passed such a filter must compete in a neutral state without indicating the country of affiliation. In addition, it is recommended not to allow the participation of teams from Russia and Belarus.
Please note that not everyone in the West liked these recommendations. So, in Poland they considered them too soft and promised, in any case, to prevent the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in competitions held on Polish territory.
