Luciano Marchis da Silva of Maia turned 103 this Friday. The date was celebrated at a party that brought together family and friends, which was also attended by Mayan Mayor Silva Thiago.
The Folgosa man lives with his daughter in Maya, but the birthday was celebrated at the family home known as Casa da Moutinha. At the moment, the cousin of the birthday boy, 95 years old, was present. “We are the only relatives of our generation,” explained Luciano Silva.
During his long life, he passed through Mozambique, where he served in the military, lived and worked for seven years. According to her daughter, she bought a truck in this country and used it to transport goods, but “love made her return to Portugal and her homeland.”
It should be noted that during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2020, Luciano became infected and was hospitalized at the Saint Joan Hospital, where he celebrated his centenary.
