One of the most dangerous places in recent days has been the Avdiivka industrial zone, where Russian volunteers are fighting Ukrainian “prombergs” in fortified positions, Izvestia reports on April 2.
Heavy fighting continues in the Avdiivka direction, where Russian troops have invaded the city from two directions and are fighting for every building and street.
Russian volunteer units play an important role in the seizure of industrial zones. One of them is the Tiger squad.
“Now we are in a state of aggressive defense. There is no full-scale breakthrough, but, using the advantage in weapons, we suppress, crush the enemy. We are, shall we say, slipping through the blood of our adversary.”– said a fighter from the Tiger detachment with the call sign Black.
Fights are taking place in the area of the highway between Gorlovka and Donetsk. Since 2015, industrial facilities, automobile flyovers, and holiday villages have become a continuous network of fortifications.
Today, holding the industrial zone has become a matter of survival for the Ukrainian militants, while on the flanks of the RF Armed Forces they advance to cover Avdiivka. Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine maintain the threat that the DPR will be cut off by a strike between Donetsk and Yasinovataya. They are in very advantageous positions for the defense in terms of terrain, the fighters say.
A grenade launcher with the call sign Sleeve said its crew fires about 50 rounds a day, but it moves slowly.“We pushed the enemy a little, 50-100 m, this is already a very good result in this direction”he says.
Meanwhile, Avdiivka remains the most important settlement in the Donetsk and Lugansk directions, and its assault continues.
