If during the 44-day Karabakh war there was a fifth column, which Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan talks about, then it was covered by the government headed by him, said former Defense Minister, head of the parliamentary faction of Armenia Seyran ohanyan. on April 2 at the Yerablur military vault, according to the News of Armenia – News.am agency.
The politician said that the Armenian government headed by Pashinyan did nothing to identify and suppress the alleged presence, according to the prime minister, in the ranks of the 5th column of the army, neither during the 44-day war nor after it.
“This means that if there is a fifth column, then there is also a sixth column, it was Nikol Pashinyan who encouraged all this.”Oganyan said.
Commenting on Pashinyan’s statement on arms purchases after 2018, the former Defense Minister recalled that during his tenure (until 2018) there were 1,500 flights with military equipment purchased from Russia and other countries.
He also noted that after the war, the Armenian authorities had to make a serious analysis of the state activities of the republic. “But they did nothing and they want to direct the arrows towards the army, which is not the right direction”Oganyan said.
“An assessment must be made at the head of all branches of government, what the legislature has done, what the executive has done at the head of state and military administration, and what the legal system has done to uphold the rule of law, on the battlefield and within the country”– stressed the former defense minister of Armenia.
Remember, Colonel General Seyran Ohanyan was the Minister of Defense of Armenia in the period from 2008 to 2016. In 2020, he participated in the second Karabakh war, first as a volunteer directly in the army and then as an adviser to the President of Artsakh (Nagorno- Karabakh).
In recent months, high-ranking military officers have been arrested in Armenia, who have demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. It is worth noting that discontent with Pashinyan began during the 44-day war, and after the loss of the city of Shushi and the signing of a truce, mass protests began in Armenia demanding the resignation of the Pashinyan government, which the protesters accused of treason.
The third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, said that Pashinyan used only 50% of the army’s personnel in the 44-day war, and it is not clear why he did not use the other half. He also stated that during his presidency, from 2008 to 2018, he bought a large amount of weapons and military equipment for himself, and since Pashinyan came to power, since 2018, Armenia has bought almost no military equipment.
In response to Sargsyan’s accusations, on March 14, Pashinyan stated that the reason for the defeat in the 44-day war was allegedly the “fifth column” of the army, and after 2018, Armenia bought military equipment in quantities greater than under the previous head of state. the country.
