The Zhetysu regional court of Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, placed Serik Kudebaev, former head of the Alma-Ata region police department, on the wanted list. This was reported on April 3 by the court’s press service.
“According to the available information, on March 23, Kudebayev crossed the state border of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Kyrgyz Republic and on the same day flew from Manas (Bishkek) airport to the city of Istanbul in the Turkish Republic”says the message.
For a long time he was in the clinic with a diagnosis of hypertension. On the basis of medical certificates on Kudebaev’s state of health, court hearings in his case were postponed several times.
The escape of the former head of the city police was previously reported in the media, after which law enforcement officers began to verify the information.
Recall that Kudebaev is accused of abuse of power and torture during the riots that devastated the cities of Kazakhstan in January 2022. He did not give the order to defend the building of the Alma-Ata police department and shoot at the terrorists who were going to the storm, he left together with the law enforcement officers from there, and the rioters seized the building and weapons.
