
Turkey’s Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar has denied allegations that illegal migrants are crossing the Turkish border in large numbers, writes Hürriyet Daily News on April 3.
According to him, the Turkish troops never allow illegal entry on the Turkish borders and continue, using the most advanced technology, continue to “I work 7/24” to protect the country’s borders.
Akar denied recent accusations by opposition presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu that he “the number of illegal immigrants has increased”.
The Turkish Defense Minister stressed that the videos showing illegal immigrants were filmed in other countries and at different times, and therefore have nothing to do with Turkey. “This is absolutely not true”he said.
Noting that he carried out inspections in border towns after the deadly earthquakes in early February, Akar explained that he did not notice any negligence in Turkish border security.
The Turkish Defense Minister added that some 60,000 Syrians voluntarily returned to their country after the natural disaster and no further mobility took place across the borders.
Akar also urged not to politicize security issues. “Everyone must act with responsibility and respect for the efforts of our troops, guarding our borders day and night”emphasized.
