A police officer was stabbed to death in Brussels this Thursday and authorities are investigating the possibility of a terrorist attack, a Belgian judicial source said.
According to the Associated Press (AP) agency of the federal prosecutor’s office, two police officers were attacked near the railway station in the municipality of Schaerbeek in Brussels, in the Gare du Nord district, the attack occurred at 19:15 (18:00). :15 in Lisbon).
A second officer was wounded and hospitalized, while the suspected attacker was “shot and neutralized” after being stabbed and taken to hospital, Belgian police said.
The crime is being investigated by the Belgian federal prosecutor in charge of terrorism.
“We took on this case because there is a suspicion of terrorist motives, which obviously needs to be confirmed or ruled out during the course of the investigation,” ministry spokesman Eric Van Duise told AFP.
