A candidate judge, Sergio’s wife, was sentenced to just four and a half years of probation for money laundering. She was cleared of fraud charges.
Sergio Ribeiro, a NPR soldier in Fafa, was accused of defrauding 29 victims, advanced age and possession of 400,000 euros. The Public Ministry (MP) also says that Soraya, a woman who was a candidate judge, and the guard’s parents were involved in the criminal plan. In total, they were charged with 32 crimes of qualified fraud, one in the form of an attempt, as well as money laundering. The scheme allowed the GNR and the woman to lead a life of luxury.
