Russian participants in the International Geneva Discussions (IJD) between Abkhazia, Georgia and South Ossetia condemned the West for pressuring Tbilisi to provoke a conflict with Moscow. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, published on April 5 on the website of the Ministry.
“They emphasized the unacceptability of the continued attempts of the “collective West” to transfer the confrontational logic from Ukraine to Transcaucasia, which is expressed in provocative calls for Tbilisi to open a “second front” against Russia in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.”says the message.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that such an approach is dangerous, the Russian side demanded that the representatives of the US, the EU, the UN and the OSCE participating in the discussions promptly respond to what is happening.
This is reported to be the 57th round of the Geneva discussions, the next meeting under the MWC is scheduled for July 2023.
Recall that the deputies of the Georgian Parliament Sozar Subari, Mikheil Kavelashvili and Dmitry Khundadze, who left the ruling Georgian Dream party in June 2022, said that the republic would receive EU candidate status only if it triggered a war with Russia. They and six other lawmakers who joined them also repeatedly accused the United States of trying to pit Tbilisi against Moscow.
Georgian government representatives also speak of attempts to drag the republic into a conflict with Russia, but do not directly blame Washington and Brussels. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili blames the pro-Western internal opposition and NGOs and international NGOs for this.
