The Arab League will hold an emergency meeting amid the escalation at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem, the Anadolu news agency reported on April 5.
The meeting was convened by Jordan in cooperation with Egypt and Palestine, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Meeting “will take place in light of the events at the Al-Aqsa Mosque as a result of the Israeli police raid on the site and attacks on worshipers”says the statement.
Jordan said it had held a series of talks with Arab countries to stop Israeli attacks. “which constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, as well as repudiated and condemned conduct aimed at changing the historical and legal status quo”.
Jordan also stressed that it would take all necessary measures in coordination with the Arab countries, “to stop the dangerous escalation and violations committed by the Israeli occupiers and hold them accountable”.
