The ship “Joe-2” sank off the coast of Kumludzha in the province of Antalya, heading to Ukraine from the Turkish port of Iskenderun. The reason why the ship sank is still unknown.
The Turkish Coast Guard command said it received a distress signal at 3:47 am and sent a ship, several boats and two helicopters. Two crew members were rescued by Coast Guard helicopters and three others were rescued by other vessels in the area. The entire crew was a citizen of Syria.
The Coast Guard said the Kumluca Attorney General’s Office was investigating the case.
