Robots to replace cleaners at Stormont, the seat of Northern Ireland’s parliament and government, writes The Belfast Live on April 5.
This decision was made by the transnational corporation Aramark, which received a £5 million (499.706 million rubles) contract to provide cleaning, food and other services for parliament and government buildings. The company plans to use robots to reduce labor costs by 65 hours a week. At the same time, the released employees can move on to another service job, the company noted.
The Nipsa union called the trend “extremely disturbing”stating that it is unacceptable to robotize public sector buildings.
The idea was also criticized in the “People are more important than profits” party. Jerry Carroll of that party stated that the Aramark Corporation should not have been invited under any circumstances.
Let us remember that in Northern Ireland, due to the political crisis, they have not been able to form a government for more than a year, but the ministries continue to function, although not fully.
