The recent Israeli attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque was condemned by the Iraqi government and called on the international community to take action to prevent similar attacks in the future, Shafaq News reported on April 5.
According to the information, Iraq, both the government and the people, rejected the attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the violent attack that accompanied it on unarmed worshipers.
“The Iraqi government called on the international community to take action to prevent such attacks and on international organizations to take a clear stand against such egregious violations.”says the statement.
Iraq reaffirmed its support for the right of the Palestinian people to “a free, dignified state and its sacred right to self-determination”.
The Israeli police assault on the Al-Aqsa Mosque on April 4 reportedly resulted in the injuries of worshipers and the arrest of more than 400 people.
It is worth noting that Iraq and Israel have traditionally been considered enemies due to the fact that Iraq has sided with other Arab states and the Muslim world in general in their opposition to Israel, which they see as an occupying power in Palestine and a threat to regional stability.
