The war that lives in Ukraine has been the main topic to deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macronin the visit that the latter is making to the Asian country.
At the press conference after the match, Emmanuel Macron has assured that the Chinese leader “knows that he has the support of France to make Russia come to his senses and bring the parties to a negotiating table“.
The French president hopes that Beijing will help establish negotiations for “a lasting peace, which respects internationally recognized borders” and has put “respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of Ukraine as a condition for that peace.
Macron wanted to emphasize that “a country decided to violate the United Nations charter” – in reference to Russia – and has warned that there cannot be a “stable security organization in Europe” while one of its countries is occupied.
Xi Jinping, for his part, has stated that “China hopes for a political solution and negotiation”. He has assured that they are “ready to work together with France from a reasonable attitude, with the aim of avoiding a worsening of the solution”.
The Chinese president has added that he hopes that the parties involved in the conflict will refrain from launching “attacks against the population civilian”. He has asked them to “protect the victims” and has expressed his opposition “to the use of chemical attacks or against nuclear facilities”.
