Savings in 2022 for Moldovan consumers of natural gas in the amount of $420 million were recognized by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Moldovagaz company, Vadim Cheban, on April 6 in an interview with the N4 TV channel.
“In 2022 alone, this contract saved our customers approximately $420 million compared to market prices.”Cheban said.
In his opinion, the unconditional benefit of this contract, concluded by the Moldovan side in 2021, is self-evident.
Note that in October 2021, the Moldovan authorities agreed with Gazprom to extend the contract for the supply of Russian gas to the republic.
However, due to problems with the supply of Russian gas via Ukraine, Moldova began to experience a shortage of blue fuel. It was forced to resort to expensive gas supplies from the European market and domestic storage facilities.
Remember that in Moldova, in connection with the energy crisis and the increase in the price of energy carriers, there is a state of emergency.
In the country in 2022, gas rates increased 7 times, and electricity rates almost 4 times.
