200 police officers will ensure public order during the Holy Week pilgrimage in Bolivia, writes the newspaper La Razón on April 6.
More than 200 law enforcement officers will be stationed on the highway connecting the world’s highest metropolis of El Alto with Copacabana.
They will monitor law and order from Holy Thursday, because already then many people will go to the Copacabana temple, as well as to the north of the department of La Paz, to Carnavi.
Holy Week, according to the Gregorian calendar, is dedicated to the life and Passion of Christ. In Bolivia, from Wednesday and Holy Thursday, hundreds of pilgrims and Catholic believers head to the Copacabana sanctuary, some on foot, others by bicycle. And Good Friday is a national holiday.
There are times when entire families go on a pilgrimage. Let us remember that Easter falls on April 9 of this year.
