Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov called for drawing conclusions from the color revolutions that took place in the country on April 7 in Bishkek in a speech to the people on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the April revolution.
In his opinion, it is necessary to do this in order to avoid mistakes in the future that lead to similar events.
He also formulated the task of the authorities, which, according to him, is “To guarantee the well-being of the people under a just government.” Likewise, he promised that the current authorities will fulfill the wishes of the citizens who “gave their lives for their country and their people.”
According to Zhaparov, during all the revolutionary uprisings, the Kyrgyz people spoke “categorically against the unjust government.”
“Unfortunately, the price of the April people’s revolution was very high and claimed the lives of about 90 of our compatriots,” recalled the Kyrgyz leader.
Recall that during the clashes that took place on April 7, 2010, the second president of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, was overthrown. Almost 90 people died then, several hundred were injured. Bakiyev was forced to leave the country first, he currently lives in Belarus. As a result of the “April Revolution” in Kyrgyzstan, a provisional government headed by Roza Otunbayeva came to power.
The first color revolution, during which the country’s first president, Askar Akaev, was overthrown, took place in Kyrgyzstan in March 2005.
In October 2020, against the backdrop of mass protests, President Sooronbai Jeenbekov resigned from his post.
