Guinea-Bissau Judicial Police seized six kilograms of cocaine this Friday and detained two people at Bissau’s Oswaldo Vieira International Airport, the investigation team said in a statement.
The statement said the drug seized by the Judicial Police’s National Narcotics Unit was “in the possession of a Guinean citizen” and “destined for Portugal”.
According to the joint venture, the drug was hidden in a backpack.
After the arrest, the SP detained another Guinean citizen on suspicion of involvement in the drug trade. All detainees will appear in court next Tuesday.
“The actions of the JV are part of the efforts to combat drug trafficking and other criminal activities in the country and in the region. The police continue to work closely with other national and international bodies to identify and dismantle drug trafficking networks and arrest those responsible,” the statement adds.
