“I can’t imagine anything closer to slavery”that anti-abortion laws and a federal judge’s decision to withhold FDA approval for an abortion pill, MSNBC host Joy Reid announced on her April 7 show The ReidOut.
reed said: “We’ve already seen a travel law in Idaho, so they’re already starting to lock up women and say they can’t move, they can’t travel.”.
He accused anti-abortionists of “trying to intimidate people into helping even women,” referring to the legal liability of helping to travel out of state for an abortion.
“We’ve seen it in Texas with this cash rewards law. As you can see, the right to abortion is being violated, which makes doctors afraid to treat you, your relatives afraid to help you, Uber drivers afraid to take you. That being said, if you are crossing state lines or approaching the Idaho border and you may have mifepristone with you, it is a crime. And in the state of South Carolina, they are proposing to potentially add the death penalty,” Reed said.
She added: “It’s The Handmaid’s Tale. Women in this country are essentially being told that you are an incubator. The state owns your body the moment you’re pregnant and there’s nothing you can do and no one to turn to I can’t imagine anything closer to slavery than this.”.
