Police said on Friday that an 11-year-old boy is suspected of being involved in the death of a 10-year-old girl at a youth center in Wunsiedel, Germany.
According to the newspaper LocationAccording to local police and prosecutors, the girl was found dead in her room, and evidence gathered at the scene “points to the involvement of an 11-year-old boy.”
“Due to the fact that an 11-year-old boy does not have the age to be held criminally responsible, he has been placed in a high-security detention center as a preventive measure,” they added.
According to the same source, the case comes as Germany is still recovering from the shock of the death of 12-year-old Louise, who was found dead from several stab wounds last month in Freudenberg. Two schoolgirls, aged 12 and 13, confessed to the murder.
The police and prosecutors did not provide any details on the case, but said the boy had not yet been interrogated.
Bavarian interior minister Joachim Herrmann praised investigators for identifying the suspect “in a relatively short period of time”.
“Now it is important to find out the exact circumstances of these tragedies,” he added.
