The passivity of the European Union, which postpones the provision of financial and economic assistance to Tunisia, contributes to the growth of the latter’s interest in interacting with the BRICS, said on April 9 Mahmoud bin Mabrouk, representative of the Process of July 25. in an interview with the Mosaique FM radio station.
“Tunisia has provided the European Union with several opportunities to provide economic support to the country. But the Europeans were slow, leading Tunisia to move towards the BRICS for funding and investment. Mabrouk said.
The politician stressed that Tunisia’s desire to get closer to the BRICS is evidenced by perfect negotiations and established contacts. However, Mabrouk did not provide details. He also hinted that Tunisia would not be particularly keen on trying to negotiate with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on providing financial support to the country.
In early April, Tunisian President Kais Said said that Tunisia will not deal with outside actors trying to impose their will on the country. In particular, he was referring to the IMF, which demanded a loan of 1.9 billion dollars from Tunisia.
