The PS president this Monday criticized former ruler Hugo Méndez’s “pernicious and stupid behavior”, deeming “the only thing left to do is to apologize” to the head of state and accused the right to seek plots “that amuse narratives”. against the government.”

“About good government, the half-truth about the meeting with the CEO of TAP and about the former ruler without condemnation…” is the motto of Carlos Cesar’s long Facebook post, in which the socialist refers to the fact that “Two problems have darkened the image of the government these days” , a socialist leader who “must avoid some stumbling blocks…

“Another moment, but especially unpleasant, was the intervention, especially his conscious reasons, which have now been revealed, of a former government official regarding the change in the regular TAP flight, which was supposed to fly the President of the Republic, and on which there were about two hundred people,” he said.

According to Carlos Cesar, behavior “such as that revealed in the material and political content of the email written by former Secretary of State” Hugo Mendez is “unacceptable.”

“And they discover harmful and, I would even say, stupid behavior. As a socialist who believes in the government in power and in its activities even in the difficult conditions it faced, since a member of the government is no longer, that is, that he cannot resign or dismiss him now , it remains only to apologize to the president and the people as a whole,” he defended.

The PS president suggested that “some side episodes” that were made public “do not contribute much to a clear and effective relationship involving the company either at the time of its privatization or more recently.”

“However, the omission that is made or attempts to be made regarding the fact that TAP made a profit is still grotesque, anticipating this goal, which was foreseen in its restructuring plan, which is not alien to either its management or its tutelage, during this period, remember, carried out by Pedro Nuno Santos,” he stressed.

According to Carlos Cesar’s analysis, there was “little, really” known in the TAP inquiry committee that could help the successful completion of this dossier, both in relation to the national interests involved and in the case of the company’s strategic development.

“The opposition, especially on the right, is clearly only looking for conspiracies and gaffes, however relevant, that develop narratives against the government,” he criticized.

Regarding the meeting on the eve of the TAP CEO hearing in January, which included Deputy PS Carlos Pereira and representatives of the ministries in charge of the airline, the PS President denounced the “skillful half-truths of the opposition and some of its aides and the general display of hypocrisy.”
