According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), on Tuesday, sixteen municipalities in the center and in the Algarve region are in very high fire danger.
IPMA has also placed more than 60 municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Vila Real, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Leiria, Santarém, Beja and Faro at high fire risk.
The fire danger defined by IPMA has five levels, from minimum to maximum. Calculations are made based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and precipitation over the past 24 hours.
This Tuesday IPMA predicts a slight increase in temperature, especially on the west coast, and a sharp overnight cooling.
On the coast north of Cabo Carvoeiro, periods of light rain or drizzle are also forecast, more likely in Minho.
The minimum temperature will range from 6 degrees Celsius (Braganca) to 14ºC (Faro), while the maximum temperature will range from 16ºC (Viana do Castelo) to 28ºC (Faro).
