The prime minister said on Tuesday that it was important to wait for the completion of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the activities of the TAP in order to remove any political consequences, and stressed that each sovereign body has its own time.
António Costa took up this position at the end of a visit to the South Korean multinational SK Hynix, the group that is the third largest semiconductor manufacturer in the world, and at the end of which he refused to speak to reporters in detail about TAP or about the statements of the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Souza, on the same topic.
“As a rule, I do not comment on the words of the President of the Republic, especially when I have not heard them. As you know, when the President of the Republic spoke [na segunda-feira, em Murça]“I flew to South Korea,” he said.
When asked what political consequences he would draw from what is happening in the parliamentary commission of inquiry, the prime minister replied: “We will make political consequences depending on the results.”
“Each sovereign body should have its own time. At the moment it is the time of the Assembly of the Republic. We must respect the work that is developing,” the head of the executive branch said.
The prime minister added that next to him are the ministers of economy António Costa, science and higher education Elvira Fortunato and infrastructures Joao Galamba, and that the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the activities of TAP will hold several more hearings.
“In the end, you will draw conclusions. In the end we [Governo]We will act accordingly,” he said.
In statements made to journalists, the prime minister categorically rejected the fact that domestic affairs could damage Portugal’s image abroad, as they raise doubts among investors.
“Without a doubt,” he replied.
According to António Costa, “All foreign countries recognize the fundamental facts in Portugal.”
“We are the fifth safest country in the world, one of the countries with the most political stability over the years, we have highly skilled human resources and one of the first countries to invest in renewable energy. We are the only country in Europe that currently has fiber optic submarine cable connected to all continents, and we have many opportunities to attract investment,” he added.
