German Federal Minister Hubertus Heil expects a significant increase in the minimum wage in January next year, writes the Bild am Sonntag newspaper on 9 April.
“Not only do we have high inflation, but there is also an adequate increase in salaries, which will be reflected in the next increase in their minimum level”the politician emphasized.
Heil said that in the summer the minimum wage commission will present a proposal to him.
Remember that currently the minimum wage in Germany is 12 euros per hour. However, unions and public organizations, which point to high inflation, are currently demanding an increase in the minimum wage of 14 euros per hour and more.
Employers, in turn, call those salary levels “unrealistic.”
