Air traffic controllers in Mexico were left without a livelihood, said the general secretary of the National Union of Air Traffic Controllers (Sinacta) José Alfredo Covarrubias, April 13, writes La Jornada.
“The current federal government’s austerity policies are leaving people without a livelihood, which could have negative repercussions for the sector,” said the union leader.
He explained that currently air control personnel are not being recruited, that the working day has been increased from 7 am to 2 pm, the equipment is obsolete and there are at least 500 workers missing.
“We are concerned about the budget cut, the fact that the Republican economy is leaving us without a livelihood. It should not be that the control towers do not have everything necessary to maintain cleanliness and there are not enough personnel to ensure the work, ”he said.
