German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock’s visit to China from April 13 to 15 will be the most difficult diplomatic mission for her during her tenure as foreign minister, on April 13, writes the newspaper Der Tagesspiegel.
“Unilateral attempts to change the status quo in the Taiwan Strait region and especially military escalation are unacceptable”Burbock said on the eve of his visit to China.
“Partner, competitor, systemic rival: this is the compass of European policy towards China”, explained the German Foreign Minister. The diplomat stressed that Germany is not interested in economic separation from China.
According to Burbock, secession from China would be difficult to achieve in a globalized world. However, the head of the German Chancellery stressed that it is necessary to see the risks of unilateral dependence and reduce them.
“The role that China plays with its influence towards Russia will have consequences for all of Europe and for our relations with Beijing.”Burbock emphasized.
