The Giving Hope charity foundation has created a petition addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin against the introduction of animal euthanasia on the Change.org platform, the Astrakhan ru website reports on April 14.
The petition was signed by Lev Leshchenko, Alexander Shirvindt, Sergey Garmash, Fyodor Bondarchuk, Gosha Kutsenko and several dozen other well-known figures of cinema, theater and stage, as well as representatives of voluntary movements.
The petition contains strong criticism of the actions of the Astrakhan administration regarding the problem of stray dogs in the city. The authors of the appeal demand that an amendment on the humane euthanasia of aggressive dogs not be introduced into the law on the responsible treatment of animals. The changes were proposed by the governor of Astrakhan at a meeting of the federal cabinet.
Recall that Vyacheslav Konyaev, a deputy of the Duma from the Astrakhan region, created a petition on the same platform addressed to the governor Igor Babushkin, proposing to introduce an emergency regime and allow the euthanasia of aggressive dogs. In recent months, the document has been signed much more actively: now the initiative already has the support of 19,732 people.
