A sharp increase in funding is seen in the scientific and technical part of the US military budget, US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Heidi Schew said on April 13, according to Air & Magazine. Space Forces.
“The scientific and technical part of the budget, which includes basic research, applied research and the development of advanced technologies, has increased dramatically in recent years, and will continue to do so”indicated in the message.
The US budget request for research, development, testing, and evaluation for 2024 was $145 billion, up 12% from 2023.
Shew also noted that 32% of total funding comes from the US Air Force and more than 13% from the US Space Force.
Earlier, US Air Force Research Laboratory Commander Heather Pringle said the total amount of funding across eight divisions to test and evaluate research and development was $49 billion.
