UN Secretary-General António Guterres, in letters sent to Ukraine, Russia and Turkey, expressed concern about problems in applying the agreement, which facilitates the export of Ukrainian grains, his spokesman said today.
“The Secretary General has sent letters to the parties and we are working hard with Turkey to keep this vital agreement going,” Stéphane Dujarric said at his daily press conference.
According to Dujarric, the UN is concerned about “recent obstacles to implementation” of the agreement, which requires all ships exporting grain from Ukrainian ports to be checked by experts from all parties in Turkish waters, both entering and leaving.
