This Saturday, Boaventura de Sousa Santos was expelled from the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The sociologist and researcher gained notoriety in the media after several reports of sexual harassment related to him became known.
“In light of the widely publicized events that have taken place at the CES (Center for Social Research) in recent days, CLACSO reiterates its position of zero tolerance and absolute rejection of sexual harassment and expresses its solidarity with all those affected by this form of violence,” read the communiqué published this Saturday by CLACSO.
The Latin American Center explains that the suspension of Boaventura will remain in effect while the investigation is pending.
“We reaffirm our commitment to promote and promote a more equal work environment free of all forms of violence and harassment,” he concluded.
Recall that this Friday the Center for Social Research also announced its decision to suspend all activities of the honorary director for the duration of the investigation.
So far, the Portuguese investigator has denied all charges. He even called the accusations “an anonymous, shameful and vile slander”.
