On Tuesday, official sources said the US Air Force launched its own investigation to try to find out how an Air National Guard member gained access to hundreds of highly classified documents and may have circulated them.
Before Congress, Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall said he had directed the Inspector General of the Air Force to review the Air Guard unit based in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where Airman First Class Jack Teixeira served, as well as “any other failure indicator that is associated with this leak.” and who allowed it to happen.
Teixeira, 21, was charged in a Boston court on Friday with unauthorized deletion and storage of classified and national defense information.
