The corpse of a man in an advanced state of decomposition was recovered from the bottom of a rock late this Thursday morning in Cabo Espichel, in Sesimbra.
The alarm for the appearance of the body was issued at 20:40 this Wednesday. The body was stumbled upon by well-known people who know the way to access the foot of the cliff, and called the means of assistance by calling 112.
Literally on this Wednesday, representatives of the GNR and firefighters arrived at the scene, who collected testimony from witnesses, but could not do anything else, since the sun had already set.
It wasn’t until after 7 am on Thursday that firefighters from Casillas and Sesimbra and the maritime police from Setúbal arrived on the scene.
It was confirmed that it was a male corpse in the process of decomposition.
Only around noon, thanks to the rescue team of firefighters from Casillas, was it possible to raise the corpse to the top of the cliff.
The judicial police of Setubal were called.
The remains will be taken to the mortuary of the Setúbal hospital for an autopsy.
