Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili delivered a lecture in Oxford (London, United Kingdom) for the participants of the Globalize UK international conference on November 17, reports the press service of the President of Georgia.
The conference was reportedly dedicated to the memory of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, who in 2007 was killed in a terrorist attack in her hometown of Rawalpindi while speaking at a rally.
“For me, as the President of Georgia, it is a great honor to be invited to the Oxford Union, in a society known throughout the world for its traditions and its name”– Zurabishvili wrote in the guestbook after the conference.
“We haven’t had such a visit in several years, and it is very nice that a representative from Georgia, a great friend of the UK and of Oxford, has visited our union and our city”Charles McIntosh, president of the Oxford Union, told the Georgia president.
Let’s remember that Bhutto became the first woman to head the government in a Muslim country. After she returned from exile, two assassination attempts were made on her. During the second, she died.
