The fire, which started on Thursday evening at the Lugrade unit in Coimbra, flared up again at 9:45 am this Friday, with nearly 150 firefighters involved, the Lusa agency of the Chamber of Coimbra said.

The fire broke out at 21:00 on Thursday and was extinguished about an hour later.
In a note released at dawn, Lugrade-Bacalhau de Coimbra said the fire had caused “significant property damage” to the company’s northern division and ensured that the incident would not affect operations.
In a statement, Lugrade-Bacalhau de Coimbra assured that “no work will be compromised as a result of this incident” and that, despite the huge material damage, which will be investigated in detail only in the coming days, “the most important thing is that not there was not a single victim to register.”
In a statement signed by directors Joselito Lucas and Vitor Lucas, the company recalled that the fire alarm had been raised at 21:00 and that the fire had been extinguished by 22:00.
