An El Al passenger plane flying from Tel Aviv to Tokyo was forced to turn back and make an emergency landing at Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport on Saturday evening, April 23, The Times of Israel reports.
Ambulances and doctors were on duty on the runway when the plane made an emergency landing. No injuries were reported.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, carrying 150 passengers, landed safely at Ben Gurion International Airport about 20 minutes after takeoff due to “technical problems with one of the engines,” the airline said in a statement.
According to public broadcaster Kan, the incident was the second such incident in two months for a Tel Aviv-Tokyo flight.
Boeing resumed deliveries of 787 Dreamliner aircraft in early 2023 after a nearly year-long hiatus in 2021 and 2022 due to production and quality control issues.
