A woman was arrested Friday after poisoning her husband with croquettes in Zaragoza, Spain.
The couple, who had been in the process of divorcing for a month, met at a bar to discuss legal matters. A woman slipped psychotropic drugs into her ex-partner’s food, but nothing could predict such an outcome, since the spouses seem to have agreed on a divorce without resorting to the help of lawyers, they are advancing the case country🇧🇷
Surveillance cameras show the meeting of Juan Carlos and Maria Belen in a bar on August 24th. The man stood up to ask for a drink, and Belen took the opportunity to add a benzodiazepine to one of the croquettes they had ordered. Juan Carlos took a bite of the snack, but after a few minutes he felt sick. The man admits that at one time he understood the strange taste, but he did not care.
The man does not remember anything else, and when he woke up the next day, he realized that the 27,000 euros that he kept in his bank accounts had disappeared.
Sedation and relaxation
Benzodiazepine is a psychotropic drug that acts on the nervous system and is one of the main ingredients in medications used to treat anxiety or insomnia. One example is the drug diazepam. The effects it produces are sedation and relaxation, but in excessive amounts it can cause coma and in extreme cases death when mixed with alcohol.
The investigation to prove that it was the former partner who poisoned and robbed Juan Carlos lasted four months, and the 47-year-old woman was arrested by authorities on November 11.
