Evangelical pastor and former Brazilian MP Flordelis dos Santos has been sentenced to 50 years and 28 days in prison for the death of her husband, Pastor Anderson do Carmo. The court decision came this Sunday after a seven-day trial.
According to Newspaper, Simona Rodriguez, the daughter of a deputy, was sentenced to 31 years, four months and 20 days in prison on charges of aggravated murder, attempted murder and criminal conspiracy.
Ryan dos Santos, the biological granddaughter of the former MP, Marzi Teixeira and André Luis de Oliveira, the adopted children of Flordelis, were presumed innocent.
Rio de Janeiro prosecutors and civil police accused Flordelis of ordering the murder of her husband, also Pastor Anderson do Carmo, late on the evening of June 12, 2019, on Valentine’s Day in Brazil. Anderson was executed with more than 30 close-range shots in the garage of the couple’s home, shortly after he arrived with Flordelis after a night of allegedly having sex on top of a car in the middle of a street in the South Zone. Rio de Janeiro and ended what appears to be a woman-promoted farewell at a couples exchange nightclub.
The then MP said at the time that the house’s garage had been broken into by thieves when the couple entered, and that the thieves had killed Anderson. But police found that the perpetrators of the murder were two of the 50 children the couple adopted during their years in the slums, who were also arrested during the pastor’s funeral.
In jail, two suspects accused a pastor and a deputy of ordering her husband’s death.
