A man who died of a heart attack on the Celebrity Equinox cruise ship in August 2022 is reported to have lasted six days in a beverage refrigerator.
According to the newspaper Miami New TimesThe cruise line advised the man’s wife two options: allow her husband’s body to be removed from the ship in the Porto Rio area, or leave the body at the ship’s mortuary until arriving in the US.
The woman chose the second option, hoping that the ship would transport her husband safely to Florida.
When the ship arrived in Fort Lauderdale on August 21, 2022, a local funeral director boarded the ship to pick up the body, but he was nowhere to be found in the mortuary.
According to a recently opened file, the body was found in a beverage cooler in a state of severe decomposition.
According to the same source, the lawsuit seeks at least one million dollars (about 908,000 euros) in damages.
