Lisbon City Council services this Monday inspected a vacant building on Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo, whose interior collapsed on Sunday afternoon, and it is expected this week whether it will be demolished or rebuilt.
In an interview with Lusa, the director of the municipal civil protection service, Margarida Castro Martins, explained that an inspection was carried out this morning with the Centro de Lisboa territorial division “to assess the condition of the building, the core of which collapsed on Sunday, and to find out if it will be proposed for demolition. or he can be saved.
A building that had been empty and walled up for several years, covered in urban art drawings and inscriptions, on Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo, in the Picoas district, collapsed late Sunday night without causing any damage.
Officials from the Lisbon Fire Sappers Regiment, PSP and the municipal civil protection service were at the scene on Sunday, the official said, and it was confirmed that “no one was inside.”
Margarida Castro Martins also reported that the power was cut off at the station. [de eletricidade] which overlooked the building and station 401 for Gira bicycles from EMEL – Empresa de Mobilidade e Escolha de Lisboa, which will no longer operate, and the municipality also contacted scooter operators to remove them from the perimeter of the building.
Padlocks were also placed on the gates to prevent people from entering the premises.

According to the person in charge, a representative of the owner was also on site this Monday.
On Sunday, Rui Serrano of the Lisbon Fire Regiment explained to Luza that the alarm had been raised around 4:40 pm, 10 vehicles and 40 operators had been mobilized, including two fire crews and a PSP.
Dog teams were used to get inside the building, which was confirmed to be abandoned.
The partial collapse of the interior did not force the cutting of public roads.
The affected building is located in a block where there are two other blocks of buildings with all entrances and windows bricked up.
