Reports of racism by Brazilian immigrants in Portugal, in particular women, will be the subject of a survey conducted by Brazilian authorities among Portuguese partners, Brazil’s Racial Equality Minister said on Monday.
In an interview with the Lusa agency after meeting at the Portuguese Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia and with a collective of women migrants, Aniel Franco said that in both countries, “solutions for the proper reception” of immigrants are being sought, especially women who, according to several activists, in Portugal they have become object of xenophobia.
“We know that the majority of Brazilians living here are women, and it is important that we can take care of people both here and there,” explained the minister, who is on a visit to Portugal by a Brazilian government delegation at the head. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
