Two people died and three were injured when they were picked up by Tesla after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle as it was traveling at high speed through China. The company guarantees that it will cooperate with the Chinese police in investigating the accident.
The incident occurred on the 5th of this month in Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province. The two dead were a motorcyclist and a young student, according to Jimi News, a local media outlet. The video, which includes images from various security cameras, shows Tesla packing into other vehicles and into a high-speed cyclist. A 55-year-old member of the driver’s family told the same media body that the vehicle’s uncontrollability would cause problems with the Travão pedal when the driver attempted to park from the family store. Tesla picked up speed and eventually claimed the lives of two people and injured three more.
Tesla’s source, Reuters, ensures that the Chinese authorities are looking for an independent agency that can establish the truth about the accident and warn about the “rumors”. The company also points out that the video can confirm that the brake lights did not come on while the car was accelerating, and that the data they have indicates that there was no action to apply the brakes.
The video of this accident has been shared on social media thousands of times in the past few hours.
