An International Monetary Fund (IMF) technical assistance mission arrived in Maputo on Monday for a two-week visit, Mozambique’s finance ministry said.
The purpose of the mission is to “carry out the second monitoring of the government program with the IMF”, under which the fund provided financing in the amount of 470 million US dollars (445 million euros) a year ago for application until 2025.
The fund delegation “will analyze the latest macroeconomic developments for 2022 and the outlook for the medium term,” the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
At the opening of the visit, “Minister of Economy and Finance Max Tonela and Governor of the Bank of Mozambique Rogério Zandamela stressed that the country has made further progress in key macroeconomic indicators, stressing that economic growth must accelerate. over the medium term, averaging 5.7% between 2022 and 2024.”
