The President of the Liberal Initiative (IL), Rui Rocha, reacted this Thursday to a controversial video in which the President of the Assembly of the Republic (AR), Augusto Santos Silva, appears to be criticizing the party.
“IL does not allow itself to be offended by those who lived near Socrates,” said Rui Rocha.
The chairman of the party adds that the President of the Assembly of the Republic behaved “indecently”, and adds that “the highest figures of the Portuguese state behave more like a cafe than in the Assembly of the Republic.
At the press conference, Rui Rocha also said that Augusto Santos Silva “has not yet apologized” and that the IL MPs will meet the President of the Assembly of the Republic this afternoon in plenary session.
Recall that we are talking about the statements of Augusto Santos Silva in a video published by the online newspaper Observador, where says that “what the Liberal Initiative has decided to do [na sessão com Lula da Silva] it’s nothing” because “there are always those who do worse”, after talking about the “lack of political honesty”.
