
Russian tennis player Aslan Karatsev in a bitter fight defeated Australian Alex de Minor on May 1 in the match of the third round of the clay-court “Masters” in Madrid.
The first set was won by Karatsev (121st place in the ATP ranking) – 6:3. De Minor (19th racket in the world) took revenge in the second game – 4:6. In the decisive set Karatsev was stronger – 6:4. The match lasted 2 hours and 16 minutes.
During the match, Karatsev hit four aces, never made an error on second serve, and won three games on the Australian’s serve (a total of five break points). Because of De Minor: three direct submissions, three double faults and two break points implemented out of six won.
In the fourth round of the prestigious competition, another Russian derby will take place – Aslan Karatsev will fight Daniil Medvedev. From April 26 to May 7, Masters matches will be played in Madrid with a total prize of more than 7.7 million euros.
